Let's Get Together More

When we reflect and reminisce on memorable life moments, we are surrounded by friends, family, colleagues, or new acquaintances enjoying wine. We do not recall a family meal, social gathering, or celebration where wine was not enjoyed. Even in religious gatherings since biblical times (and before), wine has been an integral part of history and cultures around the world. What we have always loved about wine is that it has brought us in contact with some of the most interesting people in incredibly beautiful places. Wine has been the conduit for us to stop, share stories, be together, and embrace the simple moments. It provides a chance to reconnect us in a world moving fast and furiously.

When we started LDV Winery, we said, “Success would be realized if we could surround ourselves with interesting people who would enjoy drinking our wine with us.” That success marker is still significant to us; everything we try to do is create experiences for us and others enjoying wine. Of course, wine is not for everyone, and like any alcoholic beverage, moderation is important. But in a world where loneliness and isolation are prevalent in every age group, coming together has never been more essential.

That is why LDV Winery has embraced the national movement “Come Over October.” It aligns with our fundamental values of connecting with people through wine. The New York Times article “In Defense of Wine,” by Eric Asimov, published June 25, 2024, discusses how the wine world feels besieged and stigmatized. Wine sales are down worldwide, and health concerns are up. Like us, Mr. Asimov states, “I want to stand up for the beauty and joy of wine, which has been embraced by humans since the dawn of civilization.”

Come Over October is a campaign that encourages friends, family, and colleagues to “come over” during the month of October. The campaign created by wine journalist Karen MacNeil and public relations and communications veterans Gino Colangelo and Kimberly Noelle Charles focuses on sharing wine, celebrating friendships, and making in-person connections.

LDV Winery has created monthly events to get you out of your lounge chair watching TV to encourage you to “come over” to the tasting room and interact with us. We want you to come over and let us teach you how to cook with grapes at our October 12 cooking demonstration. Or hear from our winemaker discussing the 2024 harvest results on October 13. Or learn about volcanic soils and taste wines from grapes grown in volcanic areas on October 26. Or come over for a pumpkin painting class on October 19, or uncover your inner artist at our monthly Paint ‘N Sip on October 23. Call your friends and come over for our happy hour during the week, celebrate fall with our special Pumpkin and Wine Pairing all weekend, October 25-27, or enjoy a special Halloween Wine Flight on October 31. Visit the LDV Winery website for details on these events and how to register.

. If you cannot make one of these structured events, let us know when you can make it to the tasting room, and if we can, we will join you to connect over a glass of wine.
